As an Optician at Sam's Club, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service in the Optical department, assisting members with their eyewear needs, and ensuring the smooth operation of the optical services. You will perform various duties related to the sale and fitting of eyeglasses and contact lenses, as well as maintaining the Optical area in accordance with company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

• Greet members and provide excellent customer service by identifying their needs and assisting with purchasing decisions.
• Help members select eyewear and contact lenses, providing expert advice on products and services.
• Measure, adjust, and repair frames and lenses to ensure proper fit and comfort.
• Process orders and manage eyewear prescriptions, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.

Optical Services:

• Perform optometric pre-tests as required, including measuring visual acuity, ocular health, and other relevant tests.
• Verify and interpret prescription information to ensure correct eyewear and contact lenses are provided.
• Assist with maintaining and organizing the Optical area, including stocking merchandise and ensuring displays are clean and well-organized.

Merchandise Management:

• Handle and stock optical products and supplies, ensuring that all items are displayed properly and are available for members.
• Follow company procedures for handling claims, returns, and exchanges related to optical products.
• Ensure that all merchandise is priced and signed according to company standards.

Operational Duties:

• Operate hardware such as cash registers or related equipment to process member purchases.
• Assist with payments, returns, refunds, and exchanges, following appropriate procedures.
• Complete and maintain required paperwork, logs, and documentation for optical services.

Safety and Compliance:

• Maintain safety and cleanliness standards in the Optical area, including handling and disposing of hazardous materials as needed.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures, including those related to safety, security, and compliance with ethical standards.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a retail or customer service environment, preferably with experience in an optical or healthcare setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with members.
• Ability to handle and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification as an Optician or similar professional qualifications.
• Previous experience as an Optician or in a similar optical role.
• Knowledge of optical products, eyewear fitting techniques, and prescription interpretation.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Hourly Wage: $33.00 to $41.00, with additional compensation based on circumstances.
